As a regular practice a mock fire and evacuation drill involving students and fire fighters was conducted at GD GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL MODEL TOWN on Thursday – 4th April 2019, it created awareness among the student community regarding fire fighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly. Students were explained and demonstrated various improvised methods being followed in order to rescue and evacuate people caught in such emergency situation.
The “evacuation” operation began immediately after the fire alarm alerted the students. The students & the staff followed the evacuation plan as repeatedly shared with them in classes.
Within a span of 4 mins all students had gathered in the open ground. There they were then addressed by the Principal regarding the need to improvise it further with better disciplined movement. The health & disaster committee members were also guided to help the younger students.
It was organized to check the readiness of the school to face any such fire emergency and also to make the students and staff aware about any Natural or Unnatural Disaster occurrence.
